Yeast Infections - Natural Remedies To Cure “The Itch”
By Admin | April 21, 2009
Yeast infections can take several forms and cause many health problems ranging from those that are simply irritating to those that are life-threatening. Yeast, known by the scientific name candida albicans is a fungus that lives in the human body as part of its natural flora. Certain conditions cause it to multiply, and this overgrowth causes ailments like thrush, esophagitis, and skin rashes. Yeast infections of the bloodstream can be very serious.
While not everyone is familiar with these conditions, any woman can name the most common form of candida overgrowth: the vaginal yeast infection. Rare is the woman who has escaped at least a few encounters with the itching and burning that characterizes the condition.
As previously mentioned, yeast lives throughout the body in safe amounts. The many factors that can upset the balance and cause a problematic increase of yeast in the vagina include hormonal changes, use of antibiotics, high blood sugar levels, excessive douching and use of highly-perfumed personal hygiene products, and very warm and damp conditions that occur from sweating and wearing wet bathing suits.
The first of these, hormonal changes, account for most yeast infections. Pregnancy, premenstrual hormonal fluctuations, hormone replacement therapy, and oral contraceptives can all trigger yeast overgrowth that causes the familiar troublesome symptoms of itching, burning, and cottage-cheese like discharge.
Another common culprit is antibiotic use. Antibiotics kill bacteria, including the useful bacteria in the vagina that keeps candida in check, allowing yeast to grow and cause infection.
Diabetics can get frequent yeast infections due to high blood sugar levels, as can those with impaired immunity. It’s important to be checked by a health practitioner when one has recurring yeast infections, not only to rule out more serious diseases, but to confirm that the problems are being caused by a yeast infection and not something else with similar symptoms but that requires different treatment, like bacterial vaginosis.
Fortunately, there are many preventive measures and natural remedies to try when dealing with a yeast infection. Avoiding the known causes when possible is the first course of action you should take after seeing your doctor. Eating a nutritious diet that is well-balanced and avoiding excessive sweets, wearing loose-fitting clothing, and getting adequate sleep are advisable.
Lactobacillus acidophilus, a probiotic, or friendly bacteria, can be found in yogurts containing live cultures. These are much easier to find in supermarkets than in the past. Eating this is especially helpful when antibiotics are the cause of a yeast infection. If eating large quantities of yogurt does not sound appealing, acidophilus supplements are a convenient treatment or preventive measure for those prone to infection.
Direct methods of treatment can include inserting a tampon soaked in acidophilus-containing yogurt or diluted solutions of tea tree oil, boric acid, or cider vinegar with garlic. These remedies can also be applied to the vulva, the outer area of the vagina, to ease symptoms.
While comfort is not a word usually associated with vaginal yeast infections, here’s hoping that knowing there is useful information available about how to deal with them is somehow comforting when you get that first sign of infection.

Arthritis Remedies For A Much More Active Life
By Admin | April 20, 2009
Most, if not all, sufferers of arthritis have been exposed to the medical pills, ointments and treatments for arthritis. All of which might or might not have worked to varying degrees and so searching around for arthritis remedies that will bring some relief has become central to their lives, which is no surprise really because arthritis is a painful condition to try and live with.
As well as trying to live with the pain, there is the added knowledge that arthritis can ravage the body and leave the sufferer with debilitating and disabling joints that will severely affect a persons standard of living and ability to do everyday things.
Arthritis remedies then usually begin in how to effectively manage and eliminate the pain associated with this condition. One of the main methods of managing arthritis is to look at the diet of the sufferer. It is widely held that switching the diet from one that is high in animal proteins and processed foods to a diet that closely resembles a vegan diet is highly effective in treating arthritis. Foods such as red meats, rich dairy products such as cheeses and eggs etc. should be replaced by nuts, whole grains and fruits and vegetables.

By Admin | April 20, 2009
If you have constipation often the best place to start looking for constipation home remedies is to look at your diet. Constipation is no joke and it can mean a painful effort to try and open the bowels and even more of an ordeal to pass a stool.
What you should understand before you take a closer look at your diet is that there is no ‘normal’ where individuals are concerned. One person may easily open their bowels once a day and another every third day, it doesn’t mean the latter has a problem. It simply means that our bodies naturally find the frequency that is right for us. However, if you find that you are struggling and it is painful to pass a stool when you want to, then you are probably constipated. Read the rest of this entry »

Can a Natural Anxiety Cure Really be Effective?
By Admin | April 15, 2009
Editor’s note: So many of us are affected by anxiety issues these days. Wouldn’t it be great to find a natural anxiety cure? There are some great suggestions below.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Can a natural anxiety cure be as effective as anti-anxiety medications? The research suggests that many natural cures for anxiety are just as beneficial as prescription drugs. Even so, in the US, many physicians still rely exclusively on medications for curing anxiety, even though these drugs often carry serious side effects and the potential for withdrawal symptoms.
Furthermore, it has been reasonably established by numerous clinical trials that most anti-anxiety drugs are no more beneficial than natural cures. Sometimes they are no more effective than a plain sugar pill or other placebo.
As a result of this, many people with anxiety and panic attacks resist the idea of taking medications for the rest of their lives. For these people, a natural anxiety cure can offer hope and a chance to live normally again, without resorting to a lifetime of psychotropic medications. Read the rest of this entry »

By Admin | March 18, 2009
According to the American Medical Association Journal, over 100,000 Americans die in hospitals every year due to side effects from regularly prescribed medications. Throughout America, a huge amount of medication is prescribed on a daily basis.
The medical community openly acknowledges that fact that it does not have any cure for several common diseases that affect people. Most allopathic medicines have side effects that can range from mild to severe. The reason for this is that most of these chemicals have certain toxic properties.
